24 November 2005. MICRONICS will be at the NEWTECH Conference in Colac Victoria. You can find us on stand 12. Look for the New MICRONICS Wearable DGPS with 2007S

Special Projects.

MICRONICS is proud to be involved with Equitronics E-Trakka horse profiling system, which won an award on New inventors aired on ABC on 3rd week of October 2005. Congratulations to Andrew Stuart the main driver behind the product. Note the wearable concept of electronics in Saddle blanket and GPS developed by Micronics

SouthWest Water, based in the Beautiful Ocean Road Region of Victoria (12 Apostles) recently did a rural water meter audit using the the MICRONICS TUSANI without the Wearable Vest. This was to update where their meters were located on each farm property. As staff retired and a change of job specification, it was an elegant way to GPS and update the location of the meters and download the position and a list of attributes such as size, treated or untreated water into the Authority's MapInfo database. The water is used for domestic and stock via installed troughs on farmers property. With some of the world's finest Merino wool producers and high intensity dairy farming throughout the region using Rotary Dairies and herds of up to 600 high protein milk producing wonders, (who are fed supplements and minerals,) there are a lot of thirsty animals. I envy the meter reader who had to pick up meters along the Peterborough, Lavers Hill region as it is recognized as one of the most beautiful coastline in the world, features in Advertisements and attracts more than 1 million tourists each year. Each area meter reader took the the TUSANI and logged each meter along his designated route and there were some interesting incidents that were reported back to the GIS room. Having to hold the TUSANI over a barbed wire fence with a backing strand of High energy electric fence over a meter whilst entering data on the 2007S is no mean feat. Another reader who knew that a meter was hidden under a couple of stacked rocks inside a paddock had a little fright when lifting the largest rock revealed a deadly brown snake that had been sheltering around the meter. These are protected species now so Doug did not do the old fashion routine of reaching for his shovel in back of the "Ute." Who said GIS updates were boring?

SWAN CITY has recently updated their TUSANI to a Beacon Version from the now defunct AusNAV paid differential service model. Ted Blythe Environment Manager has wasted no time in putting the TUSANI to use in starting a street tree Audit using qualified arborists to pick up to 60 species of trees through the City of Swan.

LANDSCAPE DEVELOPMENTS one of Australia's largest and successful Landscaping, project Irrigation companies has purchased a new High resolution TUSANI Wearable 40cm Marine Beacon Model.). The TUSANI system was in use within half an hour of the training session finishing. This is a first for a Landscaping company and within a week Jeff Levers the maintenance manager who had enough foresight to see the usefulness of the TUSANI had two major contacts ELLENBROOKE and PRINCETON signed up for maintenance.

MICRONICS 152 radios

The MICRONICS 152 is continously evolving Announcemnts soon.

Worsley Alumina continues to use MICRONICS 152 RTK to cover it mining operation in the Boddington forest region. The Corporate boys still cannot understand what makes the 152 design 98% efficient of converting 12 volts into radiated energy without the use of fans or cooling.

Bayswater City Council installed a MICRONICS 152 GPS Base Station coupled with the Leica 530 RTK/RTCM. MICRONICS is trialing a new RTK rover module for GIS applications coupled to 2007S and ArcPad 6.03 for high precision GIS applications.

TUSANI

TUSANI now has 5 models in the range. Introduced is a new Trimble board version with OmniSTAR or Coastal beacon Differential. Due to the volume and direct supply of the OEM board, we now can offer a better product than Corporate at much cheaper Price. All models now come standard with our new ruggedized 2007S data logger as Standard.

2007S PREDATOR

The PREDATOR is now on evaluation with ESRI ArcPad Mapping Guru Craig Greenwald based in Redmonds California. Craig had 2 of the PREDATOR units on show at the Recent World Business partners forum in San Diego. Craig continues to demo the Units to ArcPad training schools and Fire Mapping bodies.

Weyerhaeuser Canada has recently purchased a demo unit for trial and eminent feed back is expected soon. Also there is a strong interest from the British Survey Dept. UK.

A 2 port 2007S version is being developed for FUGRO ground Geophysics division

Magnetometer

FUGRO Ground Geophysicists have recently completed a 8 week hire of the Curdies River Backpack coupled to a Geometrics G-858 in the Harsh Pilbra region for Newcrest Mining using the older 2 port version 2007 to load run lines. The unit worked well until an operator decided that he would modify the wiring to use 1 less heavy battery required to power the G-858 magnetometer. This melted the serial return wire inside the 2007 which was not meant to carry the Amps produced. A quick phone call and another wired case flown in allowed the boys to continue the operation. The High precision G-858 and the degaussed TUSANI 12 channel engine in side the Backpack makes a perfect combination, but the G-858 has to use a bank of Heavy batteries to generate 24 volts. MICRONICS is investigating a far better solution to make the crew's life easier. When the boys have to walk up to 20Km per day (40Deg Celsius heat) in winter with such heavy batteries in side the Curdies River Back pack, a G-858 mounted on front belt and hold a 2007s for Guidance, you wonder what sins these guys have committed to deserve such punishment. The Backpack usually arrives back at MICRONICS workshop caked in red dust with human perspiration embedded in canvas cover. MICRONICS is re designing system to be a least 5 times lighter for the next project.
