MAGuider is the most advanced and easy to use add on kit that allows GPS/DGPS runline Guidance to your existing magnetometer such Geometrics G-856 G-858, G-859, GEM, Scintrex or any ground magnetometer. 2 versions of MAGuider have been developed- Both are wireless to PDA and Magnetometer and do not have any serial cables to break in the field. There is a low cost GPS Degaussed Bluetooth model for G-856 and a complete Retofit DGPS Backpack for the G-859/G858. You will be amazed how simple and comfortable we have made the NEW MAGuider. It is ENGINEERED to be so much more practical and robust and we Guarrantee our workmanship with an optional 5YEAR WARRANTY on Micronics manufactured parts. We have been designing advanced Mag GPS/DGPS kits since 1997 when we pioneered this technique with original WMC (now BHP) Geophysicists. The Guidance system and Backpack are in a dynamic improvement loop with continous input from our clients. In the field the stored lines guide the operator at the chosen 5,10,20, 50 or 100 meter grid lines. Simultaneously the MAGuider DGPS/GPS engine outputs GGA only positional information into the Magnetometer reading via its now Bluetooth enabled serial port. For Later G-859 Model the kit uses a new NovAtel WAAS enabled Micronics designed Smart antenna with no external cables. "We found that the Standard Smart antenna supplied by the manufacturer was not precise enough for guidance and would break cables even though a band-aid protective sleeve was supplied to stop the antenna cable snagging in brush areas. Also looking at their Backpack design in general there are a lot of shortcommings. It is overcomplex with parts that can come loose, expensive plastic pole joints and cables running everywhere. From my many years experience designing DGPS for rugged Exploration crews this backpack is high maintenance and is a recipie for disaster in the field and huge cost to clients in parts and repairs. We have already repaired several new units for local clients. The actual G-859 console and sensor design is faultless and makes a very reliable system with our MAGuider and I am impressed with the easy menu setup" MAGuider Kits for Older Magnetometers The system is much lighter to carry with LESS MECHANICAL PARTS, CONNECTIONS and CABLES to fail and offers much more comfort for longer working days. We now discard battery belts and re-engineer batteries to fit neatly into MAGuider backpack foot-See above video. This means less to carry and is more comfortable for operator. The downside is that to get 8 hrs work on original Manufacturer battery system you need 3 sets of 24 Volt batteries (2.5 to 3hrs on one OEM battery set is being claimed by clients.) We make a low cost alternative inhouse as part of MAGuider kit. We are also working with a Manufacturer in China for a lighter non ferrous degaussed 25.9Volt Battery pack to last at least 10hrs.
